Two posts, same belt — pick the one that suits the room.

Black
Matte black post, base and belt. The neutral default for concerts, back-of-house, film sets and most corporate work; it disappears into a room instead of drawing the eye.

Polished chrome
Polished chrome post with a black belt. The sharper, more formal look for galas, award nights, product launches and VIP receptions.

What you’re renting
A retractable belt stanchion is a weighted post with a belt cassette built into the top. Pull the belt out, clip it to the next post, and you have a defined lane. Our units use a four-way top, so a belt can be pulled from any of the four sides — that lets you build straight runs, corners, T-junctions and full enclosures from the same stanchions, with no special corner pieces. The belt runs a full 8 feet and retracts on a controlled brake, so it won’t snap back, and locks flush when you’re done.
They set up in seconds, need no tools and leave no marks on floors — which is why they’re the default choice for ballrooms, conference floors, festival sites and outdoor entrances alike.
The belt itself comes in black, blue or red, on either post. Black is what we hold in depth and what most orders take; if your run needs blue or red, say so on the enquiry and availability for your dates will be confirmed with the quote.

Belt vs rope — which do you need?
Both control crowds; they just look and behave differently.
Belt stanchions are quickest to deploy and reconfigure, and safest for busy queues — the belt retracts flat, so there’s nothing to trip on. Best for registration and check-in lines, conferences, trade shows, brand activations, festivals and any high-traffic lane at a live event.
Rope stanchions give the formal, red-carpet look — posts with a draped velvet rope. Best for galas, VIP entrances, weddings and red-carpet arrivals.

Where belt stanchions are used
Belt stanchions do the quiet work of almost every organised event. Common uses in Toronto:
Brand activations & product launches
Pop-up builds, launch parties, sampling lanes and photo moments — a defined line keeps the build looking intentional.
Festivals, concerts & live shows
Entry lanes, box office and will-call, bar queues, and keeping guests clear of backstage and artist areas.
Corporate events & conferences
Registration and check-in lines, badge pickup, breakout rooms, keeping foot traffic off staging and AV.
Galas & award nights
Arrivals, step-and-repeat, seating flow and VIP lanes for black-tie evenings.
Film & TV shoots
Holding areas, background talent lanes and keeping the public clear of camera — fast to move between setups.
Sporting events & trade shows
Gate entry, accreditation desks, booth queues and aisle control on the show floor.

How many belt stanchions do I need?
Space posts about 6 feet apart, trace your route, then count the posts — and add a few for corners and spares. Full walk-through with examples: How many stanchions do I need? →
How far apart do the stanchions go?
Each belt reaches 8 feet, so posts sit about 6 feet apart. Leaving a little slack in the belt keeps the line stable and looks cleaner than pulling it fully taut.
What’s the difference between belt and rope stanchions?
Belt stanchions are faster to set up and safer in busy queues (nothing to trip on); rope stanchions give the formal red-carpet look. See our rope stanchions → for the formal option.
Can I use them outdoors?
Yes — indoors and outdoors on flat, firm ground. For windy or uneven outdoor sites we can advise on layout or point you to our crowd control barriers → for a heavier-duty option.
Black or chrome — which should I choose?
Black is the neutral default and suits almost any event. Chrome reads sharper and more formal, and is popular for galas, award nights and VIP receptions. Both come with a black belt and rent at the same rate.
Do you deliver and set up?
Yes. Delivery across the GTA starts at $150 and includes pickup after your event; setup and teardown are optional add-ons.
